Working in any freelance industry requires you to be your own boss. That means that you have to market yourself. There is no one above that is going to get you ahead. You have to do it all yourself. If you are just getting started you need to arm yourself with an arsenal of freelance weapons that are going to show you aren’t just another worker, but a player in the freelance game.

The first two things you need are business cards and a website. You could choose to go with one and not the other, but the best choice for yourself is to go with both. You want the business card to advertise your website so clients or perspective clients can use it to get in contact with you and keep you on file in case they need anything.

Your website should be a virtual resume. You don’t want to overload them with information but pick out a few choice samples or demonstrations of what you bring to the table and let those things speak for itself. You don’t have to make it over the top, but you might want to think about getting a professional to design it for you. This will ensure that whoever looks at it will have the right idea about you and your level of professionalism.

The world of freelance is about making yourself known and doing so in the best possible light. Having these two weapons in your arsenal are exactly what you need to take yourself and your business to the next, more profitable, level.
